Cara Jennings is a Commissioner representing District 2 of Lake Worth, Florida. She was elected in March 2006.
Her back ground includes being an anarchist, an environmental activist and a radical cheerleader.

She writes:

I am a high school mentor at Forest Hill High School working with teenagers who are considered “high risk” for dropping out. I work to motivate these young people to use school resources to gain skills in the construction trades. My previous employment was with the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service where I worked for five years creating community gardens, grant writing and spearheading free youth programs throughout the Palm Beach County Urban Corridor. I am interested in working with community groups to improve our community putting our skills and minds together for the benefit of all.

I was a member and Chair of the Stakeholders Advisory Committee, a City Commission appointed position to help ensure citizen involvement in the Master Plan process. I am also involved with the Lake Worth Global Justice Group working to educate elected officials and residents on various issues including free trade, immigration and affordable housing.

I bike to work every day . . . and City Hall too!

Creative Candidates 2008 is a collaborative space dedicated to inspiring, preparing and supporting creative professionals to run for local office in 2008. It is part of the "100 in 2008" Campaign. The campaign and wiki are organized by Tom Tresser, a creativity champion based in Chicago.

On this site you can find (and add) profiles of artists, educators, scientists and other creative professionals who are running for local office. We'd love to see them run as creativity champions. For now, we'll be happy to list any artist or creative professional who is running for office. This site will also (eventually) contain resources to help you run for local office and help others who are running.

Please follow this format when entering profiles of creative candidates...

1. Name page after candidate

2. Upload image of candidate (you can also embed YouTube video content)

3. Enter brief biography and create link to the candidate's page in that bio.

4. Be sure to tell us about the candidate's creative background. If availanle, link to that person's creative work or web site.

5. Enter "More Information about the candidate" with links to interviews, news reports or other web sources.

6. Enter "Keywords" = name of city where person is running, name of state where person is running, name of office person is running for - please use this list:

- School Board
- Library Board
- Park District
- Tax Board
- Water or Environmental-related Board or Commissioner
- City Council (use this for any municipal representative, eg. selectman, alderman, etc.)
- County Board
- Mayor
- State Representative
- State Senator
- U.S. Congress
- U.S. Senate
